The Raconteurs - Salute Your Solution (Warner)

The Raconteurs, a side project between The White Stripes front-man Jack White and solo star Brendan Benson, released their second album, 'Consolers of the Lonely', only 3 weeks after it was recorded.

'Salute Your Solution', their first single from the album, encapsulates this feeling of urgency, whilst still managing to live up to the expectations the established musicians have built up over the years.

From its pulsating baseline to its rapid melody, the song starts off with a bang and keeps the tempo high until its climatic finish. Made for stadiums and festivals alike, the song’s chorus - a high-energy repetitive chant - begs the audience to sing it back.

Overshadowed by The White Stripes, the band’s first album failed to be anything more than White’s side-project, but with this thumping album debut the band have definitely set themselves apart.

Whilst White’s vocals still provide echoes of his largely more 'famous' band, the tone, style and polish of this song ensures no confusion.

The Raconteurs are back and this time we will pay attention.
